KATHMANDU, March 24: The CPN-UML has announced Daman Bahadur Bhandari as its candidate for the upcoming by-election in Bajhang-1, scheduled for April 24.

During a secretariat meeting held on Sunday, the party’s Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali confirmed the selection of Daman Bahadur Bhandari, who currently serves as the UML's district chairman in Bajhang, as the party's candidate.
The by-election in Bajhang-1 was necessitated by the demise of Nepali Congress leader Prithvi Bahadur Singh, who held the seat in the Sudurpaschim Provincial Assembly until June 20.
